elysia's stims!

stimming is really really good for us. we do it the most when we experience intense emotions; our body helps share them!!!

we do a ton of stims, and progressively more and more as we've learned more about us and became more comfortable with who we are!

this page is intended as a way to record them as they come to mind and as we discover them! we think they're cute and fun to share!

stims make us really happy and are really wonderful~! they feel really really good.

some of our favourite stims are bouncing in place, hopping around, dancing our arms, screaming, biting, squeesing something against our chest in our arms, and playing with our boobs.

we think arm dancing (flappies) are incredibly accessible, we do it a lot without realising. we do a lot of stims without realising! we often realise we're rocking long after we've started, or forget to acknowledge that we should stim to feel better.

oral and verbal stims are very much things we need to do, and repressing them does a lot of harm. especially oral! a quote we really like is i don't need to touch grass i need to bite someone. we have intense feeling to just bite and hold things in our mouth! we've also noticed that biting people is also generally the best option: we've had negative experiences with edible silicone, hair, clothes, and plush friends.

physical self harm is also a stim we have, not neccesarily related to biting ourselves (safely doing physical self harm is difficult with biting). there's two main types, banging against things and cutting/stabbing our flesh. these both are releases of different kinds of built up upset emotions, as well. we don't feel comfortable engaging with these, and a big goal of ours has been to try and stop doing them as much as possible, even if they feel good.

we avoid doing some stims outside of home out of fear, particularly screaming. this sucks because it feels like we aren't able to express ourselves, it's overwhelming and uncomfortable not being able to and hurts us. we like doing arm flappies outside because they are accessible and really visible and cute!

we want to try stimming outside more because it's healthy for us and engages with who we are and it's so adorable.
